Palestinian External Affairs Minister Riyad Al Maliki, who is touring Sri Lanka with Palestinian President Mohammad Abbas at the moment, met with his Sri Lankan counterpart Professor G.L. Peiris this evening.
Minister Professor G.L. Peries made use of this opportunity to express Sri Lanka’s gratitude to Palestine for the helping hand extended at the recent Human Rights Sessions in Geneva.
In his address, Palestinian External Affairs Minister Riyad Al Maliki stated that the Arab world considers Sri Lanka a special friend on the map.
Meanwhile, two MOUs between Sri Lanka and Palestine were signed during this meeting.
They were on political advocacy between the foreign ministries of the two countries and on preventing double taxing and evasion of tax charged on income.
The agreements were signed by the Minister of External Affairs Professor G L Peiris and the Palestinian External Affairs Minister Raid N A Malki.
Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mohammed Abbas met with President Mahinda Rajapaksha this morning.
The two leaders have come to an agreement to further the bilateral relations between the two countries.
