7 officers attached to the Colombo museum have been temporarily interdicted subsequent to an incident in which artefacts were stolen.

According to the Minister of National Heritage, Jagath Balasooriya, three security officials are also said to be among those who have had their duties suspended.

The minister further stated that a final decision will be reached during a meeting scheduled to be held today, regarding the re-opening of the upper floor of the museum which had been closed to the public, following the incident.
