The Sri Lanka Ports Authority states that handling of vehicle carriers will function without delay at the Magampura Mahinda Rajapakse Harbour.
In a statement the authority added that container handling will commence after the 31st of May.
The authority adds that the decision to move vehicle carriers to Magampura was taken based on the congestion at the Colombo Harbour.
However, the authority adds that certain factions expressed incorrect views when this decision was announced in an attempt to create disapproval among the public.
The statement released by the authority also notes that the Magampura Harbour has been built to international standards with all necessary facilities to carry out handling of vehicle carriers without delay.
