The Mayor of Lindula-Thalawakele Ashoka Sepala has stated that the dysentery outbreak that affected the area has been brought under control.

Over 500 people were treated both under the outpatient and inpatient capacities at the Lindula Base Hospital after contracting dysentery through polluted water.

The unfortunate deaths of a child and a 46 year old man were also reported due to this outbreak.

However, the Mayor of Lindula-Thalawakele states that they have been able to curb the situation.
