Environmentalist Attorney-at-Law Jagath Gunawardana says that the government has decided to export Kotala Himbutu which is an endemic plant.

The environmentalist points out that in 2009 the Secretary of the Ministry of Agrarian Services and Wildlife had declared Kotala Himbutu a 'protected plant'.

However, by issuing a new circular the law with regard to the plant has been relaxed.

We spoke to Minister of Agrarian Services and Wildlife S M Chandrasena.
