350 mortalities caused per day due to non communicable disease

Minister of Health Maithreepala Sirisena states that around 350 persons die from non-communicable disease.

The minister noted that around 150 persons die due to heart disease per day.

Meanwhile the number which succumbs to death due to strokes, stands between 40 to 50.

Moreover around 150 mortalities are said to be caused due to diabetes, high blood pressure, & cancer.

Around 950 to 1000 mortalities are reported per day in sri lanka at present.

Out of this around 350 persons die mainly due to non communicable disease.

These deaths have been often attributed to differences in food intake patterns, consumption of Chinese food, in-take of alcohol & smoking.
