Government earns 6.5 million rupee revenue daily from traffic offenders

Sri Lanka Police say the government earns daily revenue of 6.5 million rupees through fines imposed by police and courts on traffic offenders.

Police statistics have revealed that a sum of 599 million rupees had been earned through fines from traffic offenders during the first three months of this year.

Spot fines imposed by police on traffic offenders have yielded 227 million rupees while court fines have brought in 313 million rupees in the first quarter of this year.
