The court ordered yesterday for forensic testing to be carried out on the DNA evidence found inside the fingernails of the mother and daughter murdered in Kahawatte.

The testing will be to determine if the DNA matches any of the suspects in the case.

The Palmadulla Magistrate Chandani Niranjala Dias ordered the Genetech Institute to conduct the tests based on a request made by the Criminal Investigation Department.

She also stated that an attorney has come forward to represent the fourth suspect in this case who is a Godakawela Pradeshiya Sabha MP and ordered for the request to be made in open court.

It was reported that when the case was taken up last morning the magistrate ordered the CID to amend the data that was due to be sent to the Genetech Institute.

The case was taken up once again last evening when the magistrate ordered for the suspects to be remanded until the 30th of this month.
