A request made to the court by the Borella Police to issue a notice ordering Attorney-at-law Udul Premaratne to produce himself before the court was rejected today.

Rejecting this request the Colombo Additional Magistrate Praharsha Ranasinghe said to the Borella Police that if there is a necessity, he could be arrested based on police powers and be produced before the court.

Attorney-at-law Udul Premaratne is accused of organising and guiding the protest which took place at T-20 watta in Borella last Saturday.

Presenting a report to the court with regard to this protest, the Borella Police stated that Attorney-at-law Udul Premaratne had participated at illegal meetings and had attacked the motor vehicles and passengers travelling on the Baseline Road.

It was also mentioned that he had caused disruptions to police duties.

The Borella Police has also requested to submit copies of edited and non edited videos taped by media institutions with regard to this incident to the police.

Considering the facts, the Colombo Additional Magistrate ordered media institutions to submit the relevant copies.
