The Colombo Supreme Courts granted permission for the leader of the Democratic National Alliance Sarath Fonseka to receive in-house treatment at a private hospital located in Colombo.
This decision was taken after considering a request made by Attorney-at-Law Saliya Peiris who appearing on behalf of Sarath Fonseka stated that his client had contracted bronchitis which required in-house treatment at a hospital.
The case pertaining to Sarath Fonseka employing army deserters during the last Presidential election was taken up in court today.
It was also stated by the attorney who submitted recommendations by Dr. Wajira Tennakon on his client's behalf that treatment received by Sarath Fonseka at the OPD was insufficient.
The doctor’s recommendations further states that Sarath Fonseka’s life would be in danger if he does not receive in-house treatment.
Upon considering this request, Supreme Courts judge Sunil Rajapaksa had issued this decision.
The judge had ordered the prisons commissioner to provide adequate security for Sarath Fonseka during his period of in-house treatment.
