Leader of the democratic national alliance Sarath Fonseka submitted an application before the Supreme Court today requesting for bail.
Fonseka who was placed under arrest in the year 2010 served a prison sentence and was also placed under remand custody.
This is the first instance in which Sarath Fonseka has submitted a bail application.
At the end of the white flag case Sarath Fonseka was termed a 3 year prison sentence.
In his bail application Sarath Fonseka had noted that an appeal was filed at the Supreme Court while serving his prison term in connection to the white flag case.
The appeal filed by Fonseka will be taken up before a 5 judge bench of the Supreme Court on the second of May.
Sarath Fonseka in his bail application had requested court to take this fact also into consideration and grant him bail.
