Conflicting opinions are being expressed regarding the amalgamated oppositions May day rally which is being spearheaded by the United National Party.
Incidentally the commemoration of late President Ranasinghe Premadasa is also being observed on the 1st of may.
Certain leaders of the UNP have requested party supporters to attend this function instead. A similar sentiment was echoed during a media briefing which was held by the UNP's youth front.
These were the views expressed by the Chairman of the UNP's youth front Aruna Dahanayeke.
However UNP Western Provincial Councillor Mujibur Rahuman expressing his views during a separate media briefing stated that the Premadasa Commemoration Ceremony was being organised to sabotage the party's May Day celebrations.
Meanwhile Leader of the Nawa Sama Samaja Party Dr. Wickramabahu Karunarathna addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today stated that MP sajith pemadasa cannot heckle the May Day rally which is slated to be held in Jaffna.
However deputy leader of the UNP MP Sajith Premadasa had on previous occasions stated that he would not permit any party to cause disruptions to the premadasa commemoration ceremony.
