Forests in Imbulkanda are being destroyed, alleges environmentalists

Environmental organisations point out that as at present the forests at Imbulkanda in Nawalapitiya are being destroyed.

The National Coordinator of the Center for Environmental Studies Raveendra Kariyawasam stated that unauthorised hunting takes place in this forest.

The National Coordinator of the Center for Environmental Studies pointed out that although the relevant authorities were informed with this regard, no proper response has yet been received.

When our News Team inquired the Minister of Environment Anura Priyadharshana Yapa with this regard, he pointed out that he has not yet been informed with this regard while measures will be taken to look into the matter.
