The teacher services union charges that corruption is rife within all
ambits of the education sector, commencing from the point where children are admitted into school.
Chairman of the Lanka Teacher Services Union expressing his views to our news team stated that the officials concerned had taken no action in this regard. Hence stallin stated that parents and education officials alike are in a position where they are compelled to seek the assistance of court.
He also levelled allegations stating that a committee had been appointed to probe corruption within the education sector on a prior instance. Stallin notes that the appointment of this committee too, was to no avail.
We made inquiries in this regard from deputy minister of education Vijith Vijayamuni Soysa.
He stated that neither the Minister, Deputy Minister nor the Education Secretary could extricate themselves from these charges. He stated that the existence of corruption within the education sector was a public secret.
