The Ministry of Defence and Urban Development has declared the month starting from 30th April to 30th May as the War Heroes Commemoration
Month to commemorate war heroes of armed forces and Police.
The first Ranaviru Flag was pinned onto President Mahinda Rajapaksa at a ceremony today at the Temple Trees and he launched the War Heroes Commemoration Month.
A series of events has been scheduled to be held to mark the War Hero Commemoration month including the Victory Parade at Galle Face Green and War Hero commemoration at the Ranaviru Monument near the parliamentary complex at Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte.
The national war hero commemoration will be held on May 19th at 4 p.m. at the Ranaviru Monument.
Meanwhile On the eve of Commemoration of the 3rd Anniversary of eradicating terrorism, Suba Suntharalingam, Coordinator of the Combined US Committee for Commemoration of May 18th has launched a fax campaign to show solidarity.
The memo is meant to be faxed to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who is believed to be one of the most zealous defenders of human rights all over the world.
