The Maharagama Police was informed of an incident where a resident of the Wattegedara area had been tricked in to handing over 51,800 rupees in exchange for processing a 500,000 pound winning price from a foreign soft drink company.

The master-mind behind the scam is said to be a Maldivian National who had sent a text message to the unsuspecting resident stating that he had won the prize.
