President Mahinda Rajapaksa has advised to make Sri Lanka a transit point for
foreign air liners.
According to the presidential media unit the presidents comments had come during a meeting which was held at temple trees yesterday.
Accordingly, a group of officials representing Sri Lankan air lines had been advised to look into this.
Meanwhile the president had advised to offer further concession to pilgrims flying to Dambadiwa on board the Mihin Lanka carrier.
During the meeting air line officials had noted that the escalating fuel prices in the world market had induced a significant impact on the air line industry as a collective.
It was revealed during this discussion that 70% of the losses incurred by Sri Lankan airlines were due to fuel expenditure.
Here the President had noted that staff of Sri Lankan air lines were adept and disciplined.
