General Secretary of the Tamil National Alliance MP Mavei Senadhiraja has expressed dissent against the national flag being raised jointly between the leader of the opposition & TNA leader R. Sambanthan during the aligned oppositions May Day rally which was held in Jaffna recently.
Taking part in a function which was held to mark world press freedom day in Jaffna yesterday, Senadhiraja stated that he extends a public apology on this behalf.
The national flag was raised jointly between opposition leader Ranil wickramasinghe and TNA leader R. Sambanthan when party leaders walked onto the stage during the aligned oppositions May Day rally.
However parliamentarian Mawei Senadhiraja states that he wasn’t present during the occasion.
Senadhiraja also noted that the national flag had been delivered by force into the hands of the leader of the TNA.
However in an attempt to make further clarifications in this regard our news team contacted the leader of the TNA MP R. Sambanthan.
In reply it was stated by Senadhiraja that he deliberately hoisted the national flag with opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Moreover the leader of the TNA noted that this should not be translated into an issue of concern by any party.
