Prisons Commissioner Ashoka Hapuarachchi appearing before the Colombo
High court today stated that he is unable to provide security to the leader of the
Democratic National Alliance Sarath Fonseka.
The prisons commissioner made this remark when the case against Sarath Fonseka was taken up based on charges of providing food, lodging & payments to 10 army deserters during the recently held presidential election.
The charges also hold sarath fonseka guilty of breaching state allegiance with concern to these individuals.
The case was taken up before high court judge Sunil Rajapaksha today.
During the hearing the prisons commissioner had stated that he was incapable of providing security to sarath fonseka since he was admitted into a private hospital.
But however the prisons commissioner had noted that if sarath fonseka was admitted into the national hospital, security could then be provided.
Sarath fonseka was admitted into a private hospital recently based on court orders.
