In lieu of the Vesak Poya Day, 4 Vesak zones have been demarcated for the general public in Colombo.
In addition, there are 5 pandols in the Colombo city for the general public to view.
Speaking to our news team Colombo deputy mayor Titus Perera stated that there is a relative reduction in the number of the Vesak zones as well as Dansal in the city of Colombo.
The National Transport Board has initiated a special bus service to help the general public during the Vesak festival.
In addition, the railway department has also initiated special train services encompassing the religious sites including Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa.
Meanwhile, Police Media spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana stated that a special police protection detail has been put in place to ensure public safety during the Vesak festival.
