The dairy farmers in Nuwara Eliya state that the problems they faced regarding selling of liquid milk has now been resolved.
The Dairy Farmers further state that the relevant authorities have begun to purchase liquid milk from them.
These farmers had engaged in a protest the other day frustrated at their inability to sell dairy milk and had poured out a large number of gallons on to the road in the Hatton town.
A private company has stepped forward to purchase the dairy milk according to the dairy farmers.
Our news team spoke to several farmers to get their opinions on the matter.
However, Minister of Economic development, Basil Rajapaksa, states that as Sri Lanka is filled with the main food sources, the aim of the government is to make Sri Lanka self sufficient in dairy milk.
While attending a function held in Colombo yesterday, the minister further stated that the government is going to come up with a plan to make dairy milk more popular.
