The Geological Survey& Mines Bureau states that a special geological survey team will be dispatched to investigate the incident where flames and smoke are said to have emerged from the ground in Kinniya, Trincomalee.

An incident was reported 2 days ago that smoke was emanating from an area in Kinniya.

It was said that a person was digging up a hole in the ground to bury garbage when he noticed the smoke.

However in response Chairman of the Bureau N P Wijayananda noted that such a phenomenon could be attributed to the hot springs which are located in the area.

The Chairman also noted that a special team would be deployed to determine the cause of this by next Tuesday.
