President Mahinda Rajapaksa states that the country and its citizens will continue their march forward, regardless of whatever obstacles.

The presidents comments came as he vested the 18 bend road in the public.

5000 million rupees has been spent on the project.

Meanwhile the State Vesak Festival was observed in much pomp & pageantry

at the historic temple of the tooth in Kandy.

The function was held under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The Maha Sangha led by the Chief Incumbent of the Asgiri Chapter Venarable Udugama Sri Buddharak-hitha thero presided over the event.

The State Vesak Festival was inaugurated subsequent to a perahara in which Buddhist priests were ceremonially escorted from the Doluwa rajamaha viharaya in Gampola.

Meanwhile the commemoration stamp as well as the first day cover issued on behalf of the State Vesak Festival was presented to the Deputy Chief Incumbent of the Malwathu chapter venerable Niyangoda Sri Vijitha-Siri thero by president mahinda rajapaksa.

Moreover low income families of 10 apprentice bikkhus who have been ordained in the sasana for over 5 years were presented with financial aid for the construction of homes.
