The Committee on Public Enterprises or COPE committee report will be debated in parliament today.
The decision for a one day debate on this report was taken during the party leader’s meeting held recently.
The COPE report includes details of malpractices at several state institution including Sri Lanka Cricket, the Lanka Puthra Bank and the State Plantation Corporation.
A United National Party spokesperson alleged that although the report was submitted to parliament by the Chairman of the COPE committee Minister DEW Gunasekara a few months ago printed copies were not handed over to members of parliament.
The COPE report will be debated in parliament today after several years.
The UNP spokesperson added that they will also request for a longer debate time since one day is not sufficient to debate this matter.
