We spoke to the Met Department to find out the reasons behind the sudden winds.
Duty Meteorologist Anusha Damayanthi stated that such strong winds could occur during heavy showers.
He added that such showers accompanied by strong winds could be experienced in several places around the island this evening.
He also added that the reason behind the rise in temperatures during the morning hours is attributed to changes in wind conditions surrounding the island and the absence of cloud cover.
