90% of SL population uses mobiles

Sri Lanka is ahead of many countries in mobile users with 90% population coverage with 18 million out of its population of about 21 million.

 

CEO of the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka, while participating in the internationally renowned World Summit Awards ICT conference held in Cairo recently stated that today we witness the power of the mobile to empower millions with information, content and services.

 

The ICTA CEO shared the success of the e-Development programme in Sri Lanka with the world ICT leaders.

 

He asserted that the government was ready to provide key citizen services via the mobile phone within the next two to four years.
