The Government Medical Officers Association states that activities within several hospitals have been severely hampered owing to the associations strike stance.
However Media committee member of the GMOA, Dr. Naveen Soysa noted that a discussion regarding the strike stance is currently being held at the premises of the Health Ministry paired with its officials.
According to Soysa a decision regarding the strike stance will be arrived at subsequent to this meeting.
Meanwhile our news team contacted several general hospitals in a bid to ascertain if their duties were hampered as a result of the GMOA strike.
Accordingly it was noted by the Director of the Anuradhapura hospital
that activities at it's theatre & OPD had been encumbered.
Moreover activities at the Galle, Karapitiya & Kurunegala hospitals
have also been hampered resulting in the strike.
Acting Director of the Colombo National Hospital Dr. Sujatha Senarathna speaking to our news team noted that although activities at hospital's Out Patient Department had been interrupted owing to the GMOA's strike, additional doctors had been deployed in an attempt to ameliorate the situation.
