The American Embassy in Colombo states that it is imperative that the Tamil National Alliance joins the Parliamentary Select Committee.
This statement was echoed by Dr. Paul Carter, the Political Officer of the US Embassy in Colombo during his visit to Jaffna.
It is reported that Dr. Paul Carter is in Jaffana for a two day visit.
Carter's comments came during a summit which was organised by the TNA.
He had noted that if required the TNA should submit the relevant prerequisites in this regard, while the participation of the TNA alone in the PSC would prove significant towards the Tamil community.
During the summit, Carter had acknowledged America's commitment with other foreign nations in formulating a political solution for Sri Lanka's national issue.
Carter had also noted that America would continue to assist the countries de-mining process as well as resettlement activities.
Meanwhile a group of officials representing the Philippines Ministry of Foreign Affairs have arrived in the island.
According to a senior spokesperson from the Sri Lankan Ministry of External Affairs, the delegation is slated to meet with the Deputy Minister of External affairs this afternoon.
