A preliminary objection was submitted before court today requesting for the liquefaction of the interim injunction order which proscribed the dissolution of the North Central Provincial Council.

The preliminary objection in this regard was filed by a group including the Chief Minister of the North central Province & fellow respondents.

The attorney appearing on behalf of the respondents noted that this particular court was not endowed by the constitution to examine such a case and pass decree.

Hence he requested court to abstain from examining the petition & declare it null.

A petition was filed before court recently requesting for an interim injunction to be imposed against the premature dissolution of the North Central Provincial Council.

The petition was filed by North Central UNP Provincial Councillor Anil Rathnayaka.

Seven persons including Chief Minister of the North Central Province Berti Premalal Dissanayaka & Governor of the North Central Province Karunarathna Diwulgane have been cited as respondents.

The petition will be reconsidered before court on the 16th of May.
