A special meeting was convened between President Mahinda Rajapaksa & Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe this morning.
Informed sources state that discussions were focussed on obtaining the oppositions representation for the Parliamentary Select Committee.
During the meeting opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe had stated that if a conducive environment is created for the establishment of a parliamentary select committee, which seeks to engage a solution for the countries national issue, it would be possible to persuade the TNA to make its representation therein.
The Opposition Leader had also requested of the President to expediently enact the LLRC's recommendations which have been jointly condoned by the government as well as the opposition.
Representing the government Ministers Maithreepala Sirisena, Susil Premajayantha, Nimal Siripala De Silva, Basil Rajapaksa and Dallas Alahapperuma had been present during the discussion while UNP Parliamentarians Thissa Aththanayaka, Joseph Michael Perera , John Amaratunga & Lakshman Kiriella had represented the opposition.
