President Mahinda Rajapakse states that he will not tolerate racism to pose a threat to the progress and restructuring of Sri Lanka.
The President made these statements during a discussion held among heads of media organizations at the Temple Trees this morning.
The President affirmed that the three main races within Sri Lanka which includes the Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims collectively oppose nationalism.
The President revealed that his intention lies on witnessing a post-war Sri Lanka where members of all races live in peace and harmony.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapakse also participating in the discussion went onto state that the Government has taken steps to reduce the annual individual consumption of 26 kilograms of wheat to 16 kilograms.
Minister Basil Rajapakse also added that the increase in the consumption of rice is a result of such moves taken by the Government.
The Economic Development Minister disclosed that the concessions provided in support of the agriculture sector have resulted in a boost in the production of rice.
