The enjoining order issued against the Chief Minister of the North Central Province and its Governor, precluding the premature dissolution of the North Central Provincial council has been protracted until the 06th of June.

North Central Civil Appeals Court Judge Nissanka Bandula Karunaratne also stated that the courts decision on sustaining the interim injection order into a permanent order will be announced on the set date.

A case was filed before the North Central Civil Appeals Court by United National Party Councillor Anil Ratnayake, requesting for the enforcement of an interim injunction order against the premature dissolution of the North Central Provincial Council.

The final local government election on the North Central Provincial Council was administered on the 10th of August 2009, while its official tenure is due to expire on the 17th of September 2013.
