The wife of imprisoned Democratic National Alliance Leader Anoma Fonseka says that President Mahinda Rajapaksa has pledged an unconditional pardon for the Alliance's leader Sarath Fonseka.
Expressing her views to Agence François Press, Anoma Fonseka had stated that she had met with President Mahinda Rajapaksa in this regard last night.
According to Anoma Fonseka the President had assured of Fonseka's release as soon as possible.
According to an article made public by AFP, Fonseka's release is said to take place during Minister G.L Peirises's meeting with US secretary of State Hillary Clinton tomorrow.
Meanwhile during today's cabinet decision meeting questions were posed by journalists regarding imprisoned DNA leader Sarath Fonseka.
These were the views expressed in reply by Cabinet Spokesperson & acting minister of Mass Media Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana.
Meanwhile Attorneys representing Sarath Fonseka have re-iterated their request for bail in court.
In response to this request Colombo High Court Judge Sunil Rajapaksa had noted that this request would be considered before court tomorrow.
Charges have been filed against Sarath Fonseka for harbouring 10 army deserters during the recently held presidential election and inciting the breach of their state allegiance.
