The government is to amend the Immigration and Emigration Act of Sri Lanka in order to offer dual citizenships.
Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today Cabinet Spokesperson & Deputy Minister of Mass media Laxman Yapa Abeywardana stated that the Government is to establish a new scheme called ‘overseas Sri Lankans’ to formalize the grant of dual citizenship to Lankans who have terminated citizenship.
Moreover the government has decided to relax the current restrictions placed on the transportation of sand.
Acting Minister of Media & Cabinet Spokesperson Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena stated that permission will be granted to transport sand without licenses during night hours in the future.
Queries were also raised by journalists concerning the registration of websites.
