Our news team was alerted regarding the public duress faced by commuters travelling the Mahawa-Colombo office train recently.

According to commuter accounts they are being severely inconvenienced due to the stops made at the Meerigama & Gampaha railway stations.

Initially the office train service which commences from Mahawa at 4.50 a.m. makes a halt at every railway station up until Polgahawela and makes two subsequent stops at the Alawwa & Ambepussa stations before travelling to Colombo uninterrupted.

Commuters charge that the decision taken by relevant authorities to implement two additional halts at the Meerigama & Gampaha railway stations have left them severely inconvenienced.

Moreover, made indignant by the ensuing situation commuters engaged in a peaceful protest against their dilemma at the Ambepussa railway station this morning.

The following are some of the views expressed by commuters in this regard.

They request Minister of Transport Kumara Welgama to commute the journey from Mahawa to Colombo in order to experience their grievance.

Meanwhile our news team obtained the views of Transport Minister Kumara Welgama in this regard.
