President Mahinda Rajapaksa states that Sri Lanka will peruse its endeavours to construct a glorious nation, which in turn would indelibly make the attained freedom even more significant.

Marking his presence during today's victory day parade President Mahinda Rajapaksa noted that war heroes had sacrificed their lives in uniting the country & defeating its scourge of terrorism.

Speaking further the president also said that building the nation henceforth was the responsibility of the country's security forces.

Today's victory day parade was held under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Galle Face Green.

Upon acknowledging the march past of the 3 armed forces President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressed the nation & stressed the significance of preserving its achieved victory.

Meanwhile the president also noted that measures have been taken to implement the LLRC's recommendations stating that the commission's recommendations did not attempt to create a divide between nationalities in any way.

Moreover President Mahinda Rajapaksa also went onto say that although the LTTE had been totally annihilated from Sri Lanka, it was still active on foreign shores, which makes it impossible to completely evacuate the presence of security forces from the North, which would jeopardise the regions security.

The president also delivered an ornate narrative on Sri Lanka's war heroes.
