A suicide bomber has killed at least 10 people, a number of them children, at a checkpoint in the eastern Afghan province of Khost.
Police were checking vehicles when a man walked up and detonated a suicide vest.
Police officers are also thought to be among the dead.
According to the provincial police chief, the aim of the attacker was to target both police and civilians, though unfortunately, the majority of the victims are civilians.
Meanwhile, At least 9 people have been killed and dozens were injured after a car bomb exploded in eastern Syria, last night.
State television said that the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber in the city of Deir al-Zour.
The blast took place near military intelligence offices, according to a Syrian opposition group.
