The Ministry of Health has taken steps to file litigation against 18 school principals in the Gampaha district.
Subsequent to surveys carried out in the Gampaha District, the Borella Medical Research Institute had determined larval presence in adjacent schools.
Around 25 Private institutions, 27 schools & 100 homes in the Gampaha district have been subjected to larval surveys.
Minister of Health Maithreepala Sirisena had notified officials to file legal action
against school principals who had disregarded the environment of their schools.
Accordingly persons who had neglected the mosquito prevention week programme will be fined a sum of 50,000 rupees or will be conferred with a 6 month prison term.
Incidentally today marks the final day of the National Mosquito Prevention Week.
