The Opposition Leader’s Parliamentary duties have been temporarily handed over to the Chief Opposition Whip John Amaratunga.
This will be in effect from the 25th of this month until the 05th of June while the opposition leader is out of the country.
The opposition leader’s office forwarded the letter regarding the duty transfer to Speaker of Parliament Chamal Rajapakse yesterday.
Meanwhile, duties pertaining to the UNP’s work for the parliamentary select committee have also been handed over to two parliamentarians.
Accordingly, Chief Opposition Whip John Amaratunga and UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella will handle all duties pertaining to the select committee.
