Acting Cabinet Spokesperson & Deputy Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardhana states that a true patriot should not issue corroborative certificates on alleged war crimes.

Adressing today's cabinet media briefing Deputy Minister Abeywardana noted that Sri Lanka had clearly marked its stance in asserting that no atrocities were committed during the countries war.

Moreover he said that if an individual was prepared to issue certificates on this behalf, such actions were based hidden on ulterior motifs.

These views were filed in reply to a statement made by Sarath Fonseka in an interview to the British Broadcaster BBC.
