South Western Monsoon commences; Rains expected in many places.

The Met Department warns the public to be vigilant of lightening and strong winds during the next 24 hours.

Duty Meteorologist Chaminda De Silva noted that with the activation of the South West Monsoon rains could be expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces.

Meanwhile, the Boralesgamuwa Police stated that the 120 bus route was blocked by a fallen tree between Divulapitiya and Rattanapitiya.

The police added that they have taken measures to remove the tree immediately but drivers were advised to take alternate routes to avoid the traffic build up.

Meanwhile, the 119 route was also blocked near the Udahamulla Bus Depot by a cut out which had fallen on to the road as a result of the strong winds this morning.

The Maharagama Police confirmed that there is considerable traffic on this road as well.
