The Disaster Management Centre stated that tremors were reported in several areas of the island last night.
Nuwara Eliya, Hatton, Ratnapura, Badulla. Ampara, Mahiyangana and Colombo have been the areas that have felt its effects.
The centre which monitors seismic activity in Pallekale had recorded the tremors.
No major damage was done to any property.

According to our news correspondent in the Mahiyangana region walls of several houses in the Mahiyangana, Rideemaliyadda region had suffered cracks as a result of these tremors.
Meanwhile the Met department states that rain is expected in several areas of the island today as well.
