President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived in Thailand on an official visit today as a guest of the Royal Thai Government.
Thailand deputy Prime Minister Yonyuth Wishaidin was present to welcome the president at the Swarna – Bhoomi airport
The President is scheduled to have a royal audience with Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn tomorrow at the Srapathum Palace.
The Princess will host a dinner in honor of the President.
President Rajapaksa will meet Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on the same day and exchange views on bilateral relations, as well as on regional and multilateral issues.
Thailand views that there is room for further expansion in trade and investment, particularly as Sri Lanka is focusing its resources for development.
Sri Lanka is therefore emerging as an attractive market and investment destination.
Potential areas for cooperation include infrastructure development, tourism and related businesses, food processing, agricultural industry and consumer products.
President Rajapaksa will deliver a speech on 'Buddha's enlightenment for the well- being of humanity' on Saturday at the celebration of the Buddha Jayanthi.
During his visit to the Thai capital President Rajapaksa will attend a Business Forum and a Business luncheon with Thai and Sri Lankan business leaders.
