The charred bodies of two female victims have been recovered from a house that had been incinerated during a fire in the Warapitiya area in Kahawatte this morning.
According to police media spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana the victim's ages are surmised to be 52 & 56 years respectively.
The two women are believed to be two spinster sisters.
A special investigation in this regard has been launched under the guidance of Senior DIG of the Sabaragamuwa Province.
Meanwhile two persons have sustained injuries during a shooting which occurred at the Ambilipitiya Township this morning.
According to the police media spokesperson the exchange of fire had occurred between a group of suspects who had been fleeing a robbery which had been committed in the Kuttigala area and another group that had been occupying road on which the initial group had been travelling on.
