Two women who were sisters from the same family were killed in a fire which erupted at a house in the Warapitiya area in Kahawaththa recently.

According police media spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana vital information regarding the incident have come to light at present.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Justice is to present a bill amending the Criminal court procedure shortly to allow the Police to detain a suspect for 48 hours instead of the 24 specified by the Criminal Procedure Code prior to producing suspects before a magistrate.
