President Mahinda Rajapakse returned to the island last night after successfully concluding an official tour to Thailand.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is engaged in a four day tour of Thailand has met with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa also met Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinwatra at the Thai Prime Minister's office.
The two leaders held discussions on enhancing bilateral relations, especially in trade and investment, between the two countries, as well as on regional and multilateral issues.
Following the meeting, two bilateral agreements have also been signed.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa delivered a special oration on 'The benefits to humanity from the Buddha Jayanthi' at the 2600th Sri Sambuddathva Jayanthi celebrations in Thailand yesterday.
Speaking at the United Nations 2600th Sambuddathwa Jayanthi celebrations in Thailand, the president noted that the teachings are relevant to the present as well.
The President noted that if modern day leaders follow the ten principles of Buddhist governance and rule with compassion both the rulers and the people would be victorious.
