The proposal to be brought forward by UNP parliamentarian Wijayadasa Rajapakse to prevent religious priests including Buddhist monks from entering parliament is at the forefront of discussions amongst both the political and religious fraternities at present.

The JHU states that the UNP should let the country know their stance with regards to this proposal.

Our news team spoke to chief opposition whip John Amaratunga who is also the acting opposition leader with regards to this proposal and MP Amaratunga stated that this is a private motion of MP Wijayadasa Rajapakse.

However the minister also stated that the party leadership has scheduled a special discussion with regards to this proposal.
