The Criminal Investigation Department has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a Tamil cricketer in Trincomalee this morning.
28 year old Ishwaradasan Kethiswaran was killed in Tricomalee during the month of April.
The two arrested suspects are Sinhalese and one has been identified as a pilot.
Investigations have revealed that one of the suspects had an illicit affair with the wife of the deceased while in the UK.
It was also revealed that this woman had paid 1750 pounds to the suspect to murder her husband upon returning to Sri Lanka.
The Tamil Diaspora had accused the police and security forces of carrying out this murder.
The police media spokesperson stated that although there were no eyewitnesses to the crime scientific evidence was used to determine the perpetrators.
The suspects are to be produced before the Trincomalee Magistrate today.
Police media spokesperson SP Ajith Rohana also stated that warrants will be issues for the arrest of the deceased’s wife through Interpol.
