Rain hampered play; SL on 107 for 7 wickets in 37 overs.

Sri Lanka won the toss and Captain Mahela Jayewardene keeping with the pattern in the few matches so far in the tour, opted to bat in the first of the five One Day Internationals between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The pitch at Hambantota produced two low-scoring T20 games, but the surface at Pallekele is expected to be more batsman-friendly.

The home team got off to a very shaky start with Opening batsmen Thilakarathne Dilshan and Captain Mahela Jayewardene being dismissed cheaply off the bowling of Umar Gul.

There was rain in the air but Mahela Jayawardene was confident his batsmen would have the better of the conditions.

What followed was a struggle, not just to pick the gaps but to put bat on ball.

However, rain hampered play yet again and home team was on 107 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 37 overs.
