The Health Ministry states that the cases of respiratory infections reported from the staff at the National Institute of Mental Health in Angoda have been identified as AH1N1.

The ministry confirmed that the strain is similar to the global pandemic that spread in 2009 and 2010.

Symptoms generally begin with influenza and can turn into pneumonia at latter stages.

A statement released by the health ministry notes that all hospitals including the mental hospital have been provided with instructions on how to deal with the virus.
